How to get your proof of ID and address documents correct
We can only accept specific documents and images for your proof of ID and address that meet set criteria. To save time and help get your finance accepted by your funder as soon as possible, follow the guidelines below to ensure you provide the correct documentation. Only documents that are deemed to be acceptable by the finance company as proofs of address or ID will be accepted. Also, follow the steps below to ensure you take acceptable photos of your ID and proof of address.
Driving licence (Photo ID)
Please make sure:
- The address on your licence matches the address you provided when completing your proposal form.
- Ensure the name shown on your license is up to date and correct ie not showing former names following marriage or divorce etc. You could face fines of up to £1000.00 for failing to update your information on your driving license. You must notify the DVLA of any changes, even temporary changes, to your name, address, or title.
- Your driving licence is within its expiry date.
- The details on the front and back of your licence are visible, in focus, and not cropped.
- There is no glare on the image
- The full card is visible and no details are covered.
Passports (Photo ID)
Please make sure:
- Your name, date of birth, photo, and passport number are visible
- Your passport is within its expiry date.
- Your passport is held flat when the photo is taken.
- There is no glare on the image
- The full photo page is visible and no details are covered.
Letters (Proof Of Address)
Finance companies operate very strict criteria regarding which documents they will accept as valid forms of proof of address. Typically, they require 2 forms of proof of address, these must be utility bills (gas, electric, water, fixed telephone landline) or a bank statement. If you have any issues providing one of these documents please contact us to discuss.
Please make sure:
- The address shown on your proof of address letter matches the address you provided when completing your proposal form.
- You’ve taken the letter out of the envelope
- Your name and address are visible
- The date on the letter is visible
- The letter is laid flat, not folded up, crinkled or ripped
- The full-page (all 4 corners of the page) is visible including all text and no details are covered.
- The letter must be dated in the last 90 days (3 months)
You must follow the steps provided above when taking images to supply as proof of ID or address.
